Approximately one in three (30%) of U.S. adults aged 65 and
older have type 2 diabetes, encompassing both diagnosed and undiagnosed cases. For adults aged 45 to 64, the prevalence isabout one in five (20%).
Seven out of every ten U.S. adults ages 20 and older are
overweight and four out of every ten are clinically obese. What this means for you is that if you are with ten friends, 7 of you are overweight and 4 of you are obese.
Nine out of ten, ninety percent (90%) of heart attacks are
preventable through diet and physical activity, something as
simple as walking every day.
Auto accidents, drug overdoses, and gun accidents combined do NOT account for a third of the deaths caused by food.

ABOUT DAVID MEDANSKY
Hi, I’m David Medansky, and I’m known as “The Health Guy” because I love being an inspiration to others for how to live a healthy life.
When I was in my 20s and 30s, I was healthy, fit, and trim. However, life got in the way. With family obligations and work responsibilities, I stopped exercising and started eating fast food and convenience foods. If there was a 2-for-1 special at a fast-food place, I’d eat both sandwiches. Before I realized it, the weight crept up on me.
I struggled with my own weight issues until July 2016, when my doctor told me—based on my lab results and the fact that I was overweight—I had a 95% chance of having a fatal heart attack. He gave me two options: 1) Lose weight, or 2) Find a new doctor. He strongly encouraged me to find a new doctor because he had been urging me for eight years to lose weight. Even when I did lose weight on a diet, I gained it all back—sometimes even more. I was embarrassed and humiliated. That was my wake-up call.
Over the next four months, I lost 50 pounds—25% of my total body weight. More importantly, I’ve kept it off. I understand your frustrations and challenges with trying to be healthy because I’ve been where you are. In June 2022, at age 67, I hiked up Mt. Kilimanjaro.
My mission and passion are to help others adopt a healthier lifestyle so they can enjoy and participate in life, rather than being spectators.
I’ve written five books on health and weight loss. My most recent book, Life 42, provides 9 Simple Golden Rules for Living a Healthy Life and serves as the foundation of the Life 42 program. In addition, I’m on a quest to expose the deceptive marketing tactics used by the food, pharmaceutical, and weight-loss industries—tactics that manipulate the public into purchasing products and services that offer false hope or simply don’t work.
